5 DAYS REMAINING IN THE 2024 ALABAMA LEGISLATIVE SESSION

Alabama Farmers Federation endorses Barry Moore for U.S. Congress

The Alabama Farmers Federation announced its support for Congressman Barry Moore (R-Enterprise) in the upcoming Alabama 1st Congressional District general election on November 5, 2024.

Moore, according to the group’s leadership, has been a steadfast friend to farmers since first entering office.

“He grew up on a Coffee County farm and graduated from Auburn University’s College of Agriculture,” said Jimmy Parnell, President of the federation. “His desire to help farmers and rural residents was evident during two terms in the Alabama State House. When he was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 2020, Congressman Moore sought and won an appointment to the House Committee on Agriculture.”

Parnell praised Moore’s efforts in helping everyday farmers and their families succeed.

“In that role, he has been a strong voice for Alabama farmers as he fought to rein in government overreach and advocate for policies giving farm families the freedom to earn a living and ensure America never has to rely on other countries for food and fiber.”

In the endorsement, Parnell also called on Congress to pass much needed agricultural legislation.

“It’s critical for Congress to act quickly to reauthorize programs vital to our nation’s food security,” said Parnell. “The farm bill will govern agriculture policy for the next five years, so it’s important they get it right. That means updating reference prices to reflect changes in commodity prices and production costs.”

“We are blessed to have someone with Congressman Moore’s experience and commitment to farmers serving in Washington.”

Congressman Barry Moore expressed his gratitude for the organization’s support.

“It is an honor to serve our Alabama agricultural producers in Congress,” said Moore. “Their tireless efforts feed and fuel our communities. As a member of the House Agriculture Committee, I will continue to fight to ensure these producers, many of whom are feeling the pinch of slimmer-than-ever margins, get the help they deserve.”

Moore also serves on the House Judiciary Committee.
