The Alabama Farmers Federation (ALFA) on Friday rolled out its third string of endorsements for lawmakers seeking reelection to the state legislature.
Alabama’s most prominent agricultural advocacy organization utilizes its political arm, FarmPAC, to select its preferred candidates for statewide and local offices. The ALFA endorsement is widely seen as one of the most sought after organizational seals of approval in Yellowhammer State politics.
The following incumbents have been officially endorsed by FarmPAC:
- Senate Pro Tem Greg Reed (R-Jasper)
- State Sen. Dan Roberts (R-Mountain Brook)
- State Rep. Danny Garrett (R-Trussville)
- State Rep. Joe Lovvorn (R-Auburn)
Johnny Walker III, past president of ALFA’s Tuscaloosa County affiliate, spoke to Reed’s responsiveness as leader of the legislature’s upper chamber.
“Sen. Greg Reed is an able and accessible leader and a man of great integrity,” proclaimed Walker. “He is a fine example of what a representative of the people really is. We are proud to endorse him.”
Regarding the federation’s endorsement of Roberts, Shelby County Farmers Federation John DeLoach stated, “Sen. Roberts is a good senator who is a strong conservative. He works as hard for us in Montgomery, and he does at home.”
Jefferson County Farmers Federation president Dr. Stevan Parsons stated, “Rep. Garrett is a strong conservative leader. He knows the needs of the agricultural and business communities, and we know he will continue to do an excellent job for us in Montgomery and in District 44.”
Jamie Lazenby, Lee County Farmers Federation president, heaped praise upon Lovvorn for his years of service to the local community.
“Joe Lovvorn is a business leader and education advocate who understands the needs of the people of this district,” advised Lazenby. “He is a conservative who will represent the needs of our district well in the Legislature, just as he has been doing in our community for years.”
