Alabama basketball ranked No. 8 in Coaches Poll, No. 9 in AP Poll

The University of Alabama men’s basketball team has now vaulted into the Top 10 in both the Associated Press and USA Today Coaches polls, which were released on Monday.

The Crimson Tide checked in at No. 9 in the AP Poll and No. 8 in the Coaches Poll, marking the program’s highest ranking in 14 years.

This comes after Bama’s victory over Mississippi State on Saturday. Nate Oats’ squad is currently riding a nine-game winning streak, including a perfect 8-0 start to SEC play. The Tide have an overall record of 13-3 this season.

Last week, Alabama sprung into the Top 25 for the first time this season, coming in at No. 18 in the AP Poll and No. 16 in the Coaches Poll.

UA is one of three SEC teams to be ranked in this week’s AP Poll, joining No. 12 Missouri and No. 18 Tennessee. It was also announced on Monday that Alabama’s Joshua Primo was named the SEC Freshman of the Week.

Bama will return to action on Tuesday night when it hosts Kentucky inside Coleman Coliseum; the game will be broadcast on ESPN at 6:00 p.m. CT. This will mark the second meeting of the season between the SEC teams, with the Tide taking an 85-65 victory over the Wildcats earlier this month.
