Banana Republic has maintained its status as a household brand name for decades. Well-known for its classic, timeless styles and fits, the brand serves as a go-to for many looking for anything from casual to business casual looks. In recent years the brand has expanded beyond clothing to achieve the status of global lifestyle brand with its addition of art, home decor, bedding, and more.

The formal announcement recently made by the Banana Republic team was a cause for celebration for Alabama natives. Banana Republic is introducing an expansion to BR Home that will include a bedding collection by Alabama-based Red Land Cotton. In the words of President and CEO Sandra Stangl, “Our expanded Home collection is central to our vision to be the premier lifestyle brand that positions BR as an experiential and cultural cornerstone in our customers’ lives.”

Red Land Cotton’s Heritage Bedding Collection will serve a vital role in helping propel Banana Republic into the premium lifestyle vertical. In the words of Red Land, “Taking inspiration from heirloom bedding traditions, the Heritage Ticking Stripe collection is hand-cut and sewn in the USA by the masterful makers at Red Land Cotton. Soft, durable, and timeless, each piece features our signature yarn size and weave constriction to create a crisp, cool percale–made using 100% cotton sources from the Red Land Cotton’s family farm.”

Red Land Cotton is a perfect representation of the excellence to be found in the Yellowhammer state. The North Alabama farm has been in the Yeager family for generations. The name Red Land Cotton comes from the famous red soil found at the farm which is located at the base of Bankhead National Forest. Mark Yeager created the company in 1983 with the vision of becoming the “premier source of North Alabama cotton.”

Full of inspiration, Yeager spent time building his very own cotton gin in order to have full control over the cotton fiber quality. Careful and conscious, he prioritized sustainable farming methods throughout his work. This effort resulted in a high-quality crop whose harvest causes very little impact on the local environment.

Once the process had been perfected, the family started producing heirloom-inspired fabrics. With a mind for business and a close understanding of the market, Yeager carved out a place in the market for Red Land Cotton to thrive. It is that momentum that has continued through the years and is the reason for Red Land Cotton’s continued success—seeing over $10 million in sales in 2022—and exciting new partnerships that continue to make the state of Alabama proud.
