AL-5 candidate Dale Strong joins March for Life rally at nation’s capital — ‘We’ve got to fight for the unborn’

Thousands of pro-life activists are gathering in Washington, D.C. on Friday for the 49th annual March for Life rally in a call to action against the nation’s progressive abortion laws.

In 1973, the March for Life began as a movement of protest against the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision in the landmark abortion case of Roe v. Wade. This year’s march comes as many judicial observers indicate that the nation’s high court could soon deliver a major victory for the pro-life movement in the upcoming case of Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization.

As conservatives enjoy a six to three conservative majority on the Supreme Court, the upcoming ruling could see justices overturn or dramatically alter the precedent of Roe v. Wade.

One supporter of the pro-life movement in attendance for the March for Life rally is Madison County Commission chairman Dale Strong, who is seeking the Republican nomination for Alabama’s open fifth congressional district seat.

Strong on Friday joined WVNN’s “The Yaffee Program” for an interview to discuss his visit to the nation’s capital. The congressional candidate detailed the groundswell of support this year’s march has received from anti-abortion advocates across the nation.

“We flew out of Huntsville early this morning, I’m here at the National Mall – and I’m telling you – they’re expecting some 200,000 people. There are buses everywhere and I’m really excited about how many people are here today,” said Strong. “We’ve got an hour rally that’s planned for today with speakers that’ll be here also but it’s just one of the things people understand now what’s at stake. I think it’s going to make a statement and this March for Life is critical, critical for our country.”

When asked by Huntsville radio host Michael Yaffee if he would advocate for right-to-life legislation as a member of Congress, Strong declared his unwavering support in solidifying legal protections for the unborn.

“100%. It’s not something we’re starting today… I’m a member of Mount Zion Baptist Church. And like I say, this is where I stand, have stood and will continue to stand. I believe the word of the Bible, there’s no doubt about it,” proclaimed Strong. “Every child is a sacred part of our world. The big thing is, is we’ve got to fight for the unborn and I think it’s our responsibility to do that.”

He concluded, “I believe this right here is helping in our cause… I’m a big proponent of adoption. I think that’s another thing that is a huge option. So many people out there are unable to have children that want the opportunity… It’s exciting to see so many like-minded people here in Washington, D.C., and I’m just excited about being here. I mean… you just look at it – there’s a lot of people here that are pro-life and it just energizes the batteries no doubt.”
