AL-5 candidate Dale Strong: Democrats will do ‘everything they can to stop’ Roe v. Wade from being overturned

According to a draft majority opinion obtained and released by Politico, the Supreme Court will likely overturn Roe v. Wade, the 1973 landmark decision that legalized abortion in the United States.

In response to the leaked decision, some Democratic members of Congress are calling for Roe v. Wade to be codified into federal law.

Alabama fifth congressional district candidate Dale Strong emphasized that push was why the upcoming elections were more important than ever.

Strong said Tuesday on WVNN’s “The Yaffee Program” that Democrats will stop at nothing to keep abortion legal across the country.

“I think they’re going to do everything they can to stop this,” Strong said about Democrats’ response to the leaked draft opinion. “I think it’s going to energize the conservatives throughout the country. I believe there’s a lot more of us than there are of them. So get ready because every election is important, but this one will be especially important, and we got to be sure that people get out and support the conservative effort.”

Strong suggested someone intentionally leaked the draft opinion to pressure the court to change its opinion.

“We need to be praying for those five justices because it wasn’t an accident this got leaked,” he said. “This right here is from the liberals. They know that they see this coming. It was intentional, they leaked it, and so they’re trying to put the pressure on the five conservatives.”

The candidate also gave credit to former President Donald Trump for this decision.

“I’m telling you right now we would have never been to this point without what President Trump did to appoint these conservative justices to the Supreme Court,” he added.

Strong, who is currently the Madison County Commission chairman, said he has fought for years against local abortion clinics in the Yellowhammer State.

“[W]e’ve got an abortion mill here on Sparkman Drive,” he explained. “We’ve done everything we can to try to deny business permits to it, we’ve tried to require that this abortion mill that the doctors must have privilege at the hospital, which none of them do, but everything we’ve done to try to stop it has failed.”

He also predicted this would drive more Christian conservatives to vote this election year.

“I think that they’ve awoken the faith-based community,” he argued, “that’s the folks I believe are going to come out in bigger numbers than ever in this election in just a few more weeks, but I tell you this right here, this is exciting to see that text or that post last night, but I know one thing, it was 100% intentional that it was leaked.”
