Ainsworth: CNN’s ‘exposed’ hit piece on Katie Britt proves she ‘scares the heck out of them’

Lt. Governor Will Ainsworth drew attention to significant errors made by CNN that have since been corrected and walked back by the outlet. What Ainsworth calls “dishonest” reporting has been viewed by many as a coordinated attempt to smear U.S. Senator Katie Britt after she delivered the official GOP response to the 2024 State of the Union address.

Ainsworth said the reason for the onslaught of false and misleading coverage is simple: Britt “scares the heck” out of the media and the “liberal bias” they cater to.

The article in question centered on Britt’s State of the Union response and questioned her account of meeting a young woman who had been brutally sexually assaulted by traffickers in Mexico, Karla Jacinto. FOX News led investigative reporting into CNN’s coverage, which uncovered vast inconsistencies, leading CNN to modify and correct their coverage.

“When reached for comment on the inaccuracy, CNN responded that it had corrected the piece to reflect it was Jacinto’s view that Britt claimed the two met one-on-one, and not the outlet’s. ‘CLARIFICATION: This story has been updated to clarify the circumstances of Britt’s meeting with Jacinto,’ a note at the bottom of the story now reads,” FOX News reported.

“CNN also portrayed Britt as incorrectly claiming Jacinto was trafficked by Mexican drug cartels, but the senator never said ‘drug cartels’ during her rebuttal. She specifically talked about ‘cartels,’ referring to organized crime along the border, similar to how Jacinto previously described her traffickers as a ‘crime organization’ during testimony before the House Foreign Affairs Committee in May 2015.”
