Every Wednesday we present “Across the SEC,” where we break down the biggest matchups of the previous week, preview the coming week’s slate, and talk about where things stand in the best conference in the land.
Between last week and this week, the most interesting team to keep an eye on has been and will continue to be the LSU Tigers. LSU survived a scare at home against Sam Pittman’s Arkansas Razorbacks on the heels of a brilliant performance from Arkansas QB KJ Jefferson. We knew going into the season that Jefferson was arguably the best quarterback in the conference, and he further proved that in Death Valley.
In what was the best game of the weekend, LSU came out on top 34-31 and will visit Ole Miss, who is coming off a disappointing loss to Alabama.
Another interesting team to watch is Kentucky, who is quietly off to a 4-0 start with a home game against Florida coming up this week. Look for Big Blue to climb up into the top 25 if they can knock off the Gators.
Then, of course, there’s Tennessee, whose opener in SEC play was a disaster in Gainesville two weeks ago. The Vols take on South Carolina this week at home, a team they were defeated by last year in Columbia.
Finally, one of the most interesting games of the week is between Texas A&M and Arkansas in Dallas. Of course, Arkansas is looking to build off the momentum from their performance against LSU, while the Aggies will look to do the same after winning their SEC opener against Auburn. Texas A&M quarterback Connor Weigman is now out for the season, but the Aggies are still favored by 6.5 points in a neutral site game at Cowboys Stadium.
It is a rematch from last season where Texas A&M won a thriller 23-21.
Overall, it should be another great slate of college football in the SEC.
