Governor Bentley recently signed The Women’s Health and Safety Act into law after it passed through both Houses of the legislature. The Planned Parenthood crowd and other abortion advocates weren’t happy about it. So what did they do? Recorded the greatest song and music video of all time. OF. ALL. TIME.
They took the music to FUN’s recent hit single “We Are Young” and turned it into “We Are Strong”…and it’s magical. Check out the video above. The lyrics are below.
(Editor’s note: just so you understand the terminology in the chorus of the song, TRAP stands for “targeted regulation of abortion providers”)
Verse 1:
Give me a second, I need to get this story straight
Legislators are in the backgroom hiding from the entire state
My Governor is hating on me just for having ovaries
My rights have been taken by some dumba**es now they’ve gone too far
You know we won it forty years ago
I Know you’re trying to forget
But the Supreme Court says we’re right and we are making no apologies
I know you’re trying hard to take it back
So if you think this time the clinic closes
And you think we’re backing down
We’ll prove you wrong…
Chorus:
Tonight, we are strong
So let’s set the TRAP on fire
It can burn brighter than the sun
Tonight, we are strong
So let’s set the TRAP on fire
It can burn brighter than the sun
Verse 2:
No I know that TRAP’s all that you got
I guess that I, I just though, Now we’ll find some new ways to bust it apart
You’re friend’s (sic) with Robert, but I’ve got Barack
Me and my president will end up on top /
(Chorus)
Bridge:
We will win this fight, because we are right
Bentley leave us alone tonight
The iron-jawed angels have arrived
Oh, can you hear the choir?
Robert Bentley leave me and mine alone!
(Chorus)
So if you think this time the clinic closes
And you think we’re backing down
We’ll prove you wrong tonight
