The Red Mountain Cut Foundation has been hard at work cleaning up trash from the side of Alabama Highway 280. Last weekend alone, they removed 800 pounds of it.
This past Saturday, the organization hosted the “Friends of the Cut” litter pickup, along two miles of the heavily trafficked roadway that runs through the Cut in Red Mountain between Homewood and St. Vincent’s Hospital.
The event was made possible through a partnership between Alabama People Against a Littered State and the Alabama Department of Transportation.
“Working with ALPALS and ALDOT, our Foundation has adopted miles 272-274 on Highway 280,” said Red Mountain Cut Foundation President Bryson. “This cleanup will be the first of what will be a regularly quarter event. It should be a great community service opportunity and help our community look its best.
The Red Mountain Cut says they’re “dedicated to improving the beauty and access to the Cut in Red Mountain and adjacent neighborhoods.”
