7 Things: Trump trial; Biden’s grifting; Tuberville’s anger over open borders; and more …

7. The global Left’s favorite pope of all time, except for maybe Pope Boniface VIII, is under fire from some of his staunchest allies after telling Catholic bishops in Italy there is too much “faggottry.” Pope Francis allegedly told Italian bishops to bar gay men from priesthood training, using “frociaggine” a homophobic slur during a closed-door meeting, according to reports from Corriere della Sera and La Repubblica.

6. A pathetic group of atheist losers from Wisconsin, the Freedom From Religion Foundation (FFRF), has threatened legal action against the Elmore County School District over a voluntary assembly at Stanhope Elmore High School led by John Eklund of Recovery ALIVE to discuss mental health, claiming it was an unconstitutional Christian event. Lt. Gov. Will Ainsworth, who has been attacked by the FFRF before, said, “I believe strongly that the rise in juvenile crime and the lack of respect for human life that so many young people in high-crime areas possess today is a direct result of religion being removed from our schools and other public venues.”

5. Not content to waste both Alabama and federal tax dollars on stupid trains no one will ride in Mobile, the Southeast Corridor Commission, with support from the a group that will get rich building this garbage known as the High Speed Rail Alliance, has proposed a high-speed rail network linking Raleigh, North Carolina, to Atlanta, Nashville, and Orlando, (later lines include Birmingham, Auburn, Montgomery, and Mobile). This boondoggle, which aims to reduce congestion and emissions while boosting economic connectivity, envisions trains traveling at speeds up to 125 mph and potentially generating significant economic benefits ($418 million) and job creation if completed between 2025 and 2055, a measly 30 years and way more than $418 million later.

4. News out of Iran that the nation is getting closer to weapons-grade nuclear material is  worrying many observers of the region and U.S. Rep. Gary Palmer (R-Hoover) says the Biden administration’s Israel policy is making all of this worse for American interests and our allies. Palmer notes, “The failed leadership of the Biden administration is not only encouraging these attacks abroad, but it is causing chaos here at home,” and adds, “When President Biden shows indecision and weakness to our enemies around the world, our friends suffer.”

3. U.S. Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-Auburn) pushed a vote on the Border Safety and Security Act bill which would have shut down the border until the Department of Homeland Security regains operational control, which Democrats blocked. Tuberville criticized a bipartisan bill by Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-New York) as ineffective and politically motivated, arguing that he continues to fail to secure the border which costs taxpayers billions and Tuberville emphasized the financial burden and security risks posed by the high numbers of illegal immigrants entering the U.S.

2. As if Americans needed more proof the Biden Crime Syndicate was full of terrible people, it is now clear Hunter Biden used his father’s attendance at a Sandy Hook memorial event to arrange a meeting with a Chinese business partner, according to newly released texts. These communications, revealed by the House Ways and Means Committee, show Hunter Biden coordinating the meeting and involving his uncle, Jim Biden, while suggesting Joe Biden played a significant role in the family’s business dealings with CEFC, a Chinese company.

1. Closing arguments in the “hush money” trial of former President Donald Trump will likely take up most of Tuesday, with jury deliberations expected to start Wednesday and then America waits for fallout. The media and their Democrats are worried about this trial because a conviction is unlikely and as U.S. Rep. Dean Phillips (D-Minn.) noted, “I don’t think the New York cases are exactly what Democrats were hoping they would be.”
