7 Things: Trump drops Brooks endorsement, other candidates working to find Trump’s favor and more …

7. Colorado lawmakers fighting to keep Space Command

  • Colorado lawmakers are once again pushing for the U.S. Space Command HQ to remain in Colorado rather than moving to Huntsville as is currently planned. U.S. Representatives Doug Lamborn (R-Colo.), Ken Buck (R-Colo.), Lauren Boebert (R-Colo.), Jason Crow (D-Colo.), Diana DeGette (D-Colo.), Ed Perlmutter (D-Colo.), and Joe Neguse (D-Colo.), and U.S. Senators Michael Bennet (D-Colo.) and John Hickenlooper (D-Colo.) have sent a letter to President Joe Biden on the issue.
  • In the letter, they ask Biden to “carefully review both reports and ensure that the final basing decision takes the findings, and national security and cost implications, into account.” The lawmakers add, “At a time when threats in space are rapidly increasing, particularly from Russia and China, USSPACECOM cannot afford any operational interruptions and much achieve Full Operational Capability (FOC) as quickly as possible.”

6. Wardynski: Impeach Biden over Hunter’s laptop

  • Reports have confirmed that the original story about Hunter Biden’s laptop was true. Congressional candidate Casey Wardynski is calling for President Joe Biden to be impeached for the entire ordeal and his alleged corrupt involvement with Hunter.
  • Wardynski said, “If the stuff I saw before the election is true, Biden’s got to go, and his son ought to go to jail and probably Joe ought to go to jail, you know, 10% for the big guy.” He added, “We shouldn’t be here. If we had not been so pathetically weak over the first year of his Presidency, if he wasn’t mobbed up with bad elements in Ukraine from when his son was over there, we’d be in a different place.”

5. China needs to stop, Russia has to stop threatening nuclear warfare

  • NATO has publicly stated that both Russia and China need to draw back on some of their actions, with NATO Secretary-General Jen Stoltenberg saying, “Russia must stop its nuclear saber-rattling. This is dangerous, and it is irresponsible.”
  • Stoltenberg added, “Russia must understand that a nuclear war should never be fought. They can never win a nuclear war.” She went on to say, “Beijing has joined Moscow in questioning the right of independent nations to choose their own path. China has provided Russia with political support, including by spreading blatant lies and misinformation.”

4. Judge Jackson confirmation hearings continue

  • Hearings continue for Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson’s confirmation to the U.S. Supreme Court. U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) questioned Jackson on immigration votes and criticized her stance on sentencing related to child pornography crimes.
  • Graham said about the pornography sentencing, “I think you’re doing it wrong. And every judge who does what you’re doing is making it easier for the children to be exploited.” When discussing the issue of Jackson’s immigration rulings, Graham said, “You reached a conclusion because you disagree with the Trump administration. That, to me, is Exhibit A of activism.”

3. Trump meets with Mike Durant

  • New 2020 election warrior Mike Durant wants a crack at that endorsement he met with former President Donald Trump at Mar-a-Lago, but specifics about the meeting have not been released by the campaign. This is an expected move as Trump determines who he will endorse next in the U.S. Senate race.
  • Earlier this week, though, Durant stated, “President Trump was ROBBED by the corrupt Democrats who changed the rules and then refused to investigate valid instances of fraud, and then was shockingly betrayed by do-nothing career politicians who refused to investigate.” This is a new position for Durant, who, earlier in the campaign didn’t even mention the election as an issue and declared as much when asked. He stated then, “Well, if you’ll notice when I talked about what my priorities were, I didn’t list that. The timing is right for us to focus on really important things. Let’s focus on things that really matter.”

2. With the endorsement up in the air, everyone wants a shot at it

  • With former President Donald Trump’s endorsement up for grabs in the U.S. Senate race, candidate Katie Britt is making her case for why she’s the clear choice for the endorsement and said that she’d “be thrilled to earn President Trump’s endorsement.”
  • Britt added, “It is clear from our travels and from our momentum that Alabamians can see that I’m the best candidate to fight for the MAGA agenda and defend our Christian conservative values. Alabama patriots who overwhelmingly support President Trump…are standing strong with our campaign, because they’ve known where I stood from day one. We don’t need more do-nothing flip-floppers in Washington, D.C.”

1. Brooks is disappointed, Shelby is thrilled

  • U.S. Representative Mo Brooks (R-Huntsville) recently lost the endorsement of former President Donald Trump in the U.S. Senate race. He responded by saying, “It’s disappointing that, just like in 2017, President Trump lets Mitch McConnell manipulate him again…I wish President Trump wouldn’t fall for McConnell’s ploys, but once again, he has.” Brooks went on to add, “President Trump asked me to rescind the 2020 elections immediately remove Joe Biden from the White House, immediately put President Trump back in the White House, and hold a new special election for the presidency…neither the U.S. Constitution nor the U.S. Code permit what President Trump asks.”
  • U.S. Senator Richard Shelby (R-Tuscaloosa) weighed in on the issue of Trump rescinding his endorsement, saying that Brooks’ “campaign was tanking anyway.” Shelby has been a vocal supporter of U.S. Senate candidate Katie Britt, who is also his former chief of staff.
