7 Things: Really authentic Mexican restaurants in Alabama raided by ICE; media misleading on Epstein files; Orr wants to cut junk food out of SNAP benefits; and more …

7. Republicans narrowly advanced a rescissions package to the Senate floor, aiming to cut funding for various programs, but opposition from Democrats and other Republicans make final passage less than a slam dunk.

6. U.S. Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-Auburn) stated that a decision on the Space Command headquarters is coming soon, amid ongoing discussions and political maneuvering, but it is coming to Alabama.

5. Mountain Brook has joined a lawsuit with Tuscaloosa challenging Alabama’s online tax revenue distribution, arguing for fairness in how funds are allocated. But their argument seems rather weak as the Legislature can decide how taxes are collected and spent.

4. An independent autopsy on Jabari Peoples has left unanswered questions about his death, with lawyers demanding the bullet for further analysis amid a push for the video of the shooting death still going unheeded.

3. Alabama State Sen. Arthur Orr (R-Decatur) has a bill that would have Alabama join other states in banning candy and soda from SNAP benefits, aiming to promote healthier eating habits among recipients and potentially motivating people to become more self-sufficient.

2. The media and their Democrats are suggesting that House Republicans voted to block the release of Jeffrey Epstein’s files, which a debate about their release is ongoing and coming. However, that is not the true story, as Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) explained, “it’s voting on the previous question. If the Democrats had won the previous question, which I know sounds insane, it’s one of these crazy rules in the House that are hard to understand, that means they would control the House floor. And that means they could bring up anything, they could bring up impeachment articles against President Trump, they could bring up a whole package of insane Democrat agenda items and force votes on the House floor.”

1. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents, assisted by state and local police, conducted raids on Mexican restaurants in the Auburn-Opelika area (probably the better ones) amid reports of plummeting border crossings due to President Donald Trump’s enforcement policies and increased detentions.
