7 Things: Ledbetter warns GOP turnout is vital, Tuberville eyes National Guard in Montgomery, Trump doubts execution livestream, and more …

7. Governor-elect National Championship-winning Coach U.S. Senator Tommy Tuberville (R-Auburn) applauded the federal raid on U.S. Rep. Ilhan Omar’s (D-Minn.) Washington, D.C., home as part of an investigation into alleged immigration fraud, saying, “She lied about her citizenship” and “She’s in big trouble, and so should several other people up there who say they’re citizens and they’re not,” while reports indicated that Omar’s staff had her birthdate changed from 1981 to 1982 in public records after her election and that her father, Nur Omar Mohamed, was a “full colonel in Siad Barre’s military regime” who “misrepresented himself as a refugee.”

6. Montgomery County Circuit Judge Monet Gaines dismissed a residency lawsuit seeking to remove Republican Lt. Governor nominee John Wahl from the ballot, with Wahl stating, “I have spent my entire life as an Alabamian. I was born here, raised here, and have maintained my residence here,” the Alabama Supreme Court’s 7-0 ruling ended a similar case against Governor-elect National Championship-winning Coach U.S. Senator Tommy Tuberville (R-Auburn).

5. Alabama voters will get the chance to decide on Amendments 3 and 4 in November 3, with Amendment 3 requiring local boards of education to adopt policies for daily recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance and authorizing student-initiated and student-led prayer in public K-12 schools, and Amendment 4 would require the weekly broadcast or performance of the first stanza of The Star-Spangled Banner, which State Sen. Gerald Allen (R-Tuscaloosa) said, “reminds us who we are as Americans.”

4. Governor-elect National Championship-winning Coach U.S. Senator Tommy Tuberville (R-Auburn) said the growing number of out-of-state residents in North Alabama has fueled a Democrat trend because “You have people coming from other states who were brought up in these government-educated schools that have taught socialism and communism,” adding that “Even President Trump was on the ballot” six years ago and he “didn’t get near the votes” in those counties, and that “It’s hard to get them out of that mindset, and that’s what we have to do.”

3. President Donald Trump has privately expressed doubts about live-streaming the Dec. 3 firing-squad execution of former Army Maj. Nidal Hasan, who killed 13 people at Fort Hood in 2009, telling one confidant it “might not happen” and receiving “negative input” from lawmakers and advisers.

2. Governor-elect National Championship-winning Coach U.S. Senator Tommy Tuberville (R-Auburn) said he has talked with President Donald Trump about deploying the National Guard to Montgomery if elected governor, stating, “Oh, 100%” and “There’s no life in Montgomery… It’s a dead city,” while describing how Trump structured deployments in Memphis, New Orleans, and Washington D.C., blaming liberal judges for releasing offenders, and declaring, “Criminals are not going to run this country. They’re not going to run this state.”

1. Alabama House Speaker Nathaniel Ledbetter (R-Rainsville) wrote that “Republican turnout on November 3 is vital,” noting that over 1.46 million votes were cast for the Republican presidential ticket in 2024 but only 493,000 Republican ballots in the May primary, warning that low turnout could flip a handful of key legislative seats, and there are eight GOP-held districts, mostly in Huntsville suburbs and Over the Mountain areas, where a national Democratic wave could first hit, including open Senate District 2 where Trump’s margin fell to 1.5 points.
