2. School choice passes the Alabama State House, clearing a huge hurdle and setting the bill up for passage in the State Senate. Six Republicans voted against the bill that will provide $7,000 tax credits for private schools and up to $2,000 for homeschoolers with a cap of two credits per family.
1. Alabama State Sen. Tim Melson (R-Florence) has officially filed his bill that would make it clear that in vitro fertilization is protected in Alabama and “would provide civil and criminal immunity to persons providing goods and services related to in vitro fertilization except for acts of omission that are intentional and not arising from or related to IVF services.” State Rep. Terri Collins (R-Decatur) has offered the same bill in the House, meaning the movement to protect IVF services is underway and WILL NOT require a constitutional amendment.
