7. Attempted murder and possession of a deadly weapon charges on school grounds have been filed against a Hueytown mom who recklessly discharged a firearm outside a high school basketball game. Reports indicate that witnesses said there was an altercation between juveniles when Eunethia Arnette Shackleford arrived with other adults and “fired shots in the air” before fleeing the scene.
6. A bill proposed by both of Alabama’s U.S. senators, Tommy Tuberville (R-Auburn) and Katie Britt (R-Montgomery), to slow the growth of Chinese ownership of farmland in the United States. Tuberville explains, “We can’t let our enemies hold our food supply hostage. Right now, they’re buying up more and more of the farmland that feeds our people. We need to get ahead of this.”
5. Former President Donald Trump and former Democrat candidate for president Robert F. Kennedy Jr. could be on an unlikely presidential ticket in 2024? According to reports, there has been some form of outreach on the issue but Trump’s campaign manager says that it will not be happening, “This is 100% FAKE NEWS – NO ONE from the Trump Campaign ever approached RFK jr (or ever will) – one of the most LIBERAL and radical environmentalists in the country. For all the fake news- update your stories.”
4. Doubt continues to creep in on gambling bills and the complication of getting a “comprehensive gambling bill” through the Alabama Legislature seems like a real heavy lift. State Sen. Sam Givhan (R-Madison) expressed his reservations on this issue, and he isn’t the only one, “I mean a sports betting and lottery, if the casinos would ever back off, then I think maybe, but I just don’t think enough Republicans would vote for that and override the Democrats.”
3. Real school choice advocates in Alabama had a great “School Choice Week” but Lt. Gov. Will Ainsworth is suggesting that Republicans in Alabama temper that excitement and notes that “I think we’re going to have to phase it in.” It, of course, is real school choice, so expect a “strong bill” but with a multi-year phasing in strategy.
2. Repeatedly stupid Alabama Democrats compare the execution of Kenneth Eugene Smith, a convicted hitman/murderer, to the systematic execution of Jews by the Nazis. This tracks with national Democrats that believe attacks by Palestinians on Israeli civilians is a legitimate act of war, but the Israeli response is genocide and just like the Nazis, too.
1. Iran continues to fund Middle East chaos and now 3 Americans are dead and 24 others are wounded because the United States of America looks weak on the world stage. President Joe Biden is preparing the U.S. response to this which will likely be a proxy battle with Iranian-aligned groups but multiple U.S. senators are suggesting we target Iran with strikes.
