7 Things: Harris accepts Biden’s nomination; candidate in AL-02 Shomari Figures speaks at the DNC; and more …

7. More silly library drama that could have been avoided by agreeing that smut should not be peddled to kids by degenerate weirdos. This time a Shelby County library director has decided to resign over the issue. Kate Etheredge, the director of the North Shelby Library, resigned following over a year of controversy surrounding LGBTQ+ and sexually explicit children’s books. The library had been embroiled in a statewide debate after maintaining a “Pride” display despite local opposition. Recent legislative changes, including a bill that shifted control of the library board to the Shelby County legislative delegation, contributed to ongoing tensions. Etheredge’s resignation was announced without a stated reason, effective September 6, 2024

6. Talking heads, some pretending to be journalists, are urging Vice President Kamala Harris to hide from the media. CNN’s Erin Burnett, MSNBC contributor Cornell Belcher, and others are now openly dismissing concerns about Kamala Harris avoiding press conferences, stating that regular voters don’t care much about her lack of media engagement. Belcher argued that Harris’ poll numbers are rising because she is focusing on directly engaging with voters in battleground states rather than the press. This is an endorsement of the strategy of letting the American media run her campaign and mitigate her issues.

5. Power bills are going up starting in October. Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) customers in Alabama will see a 5.25% rate increase in their electricity bills. This hike, approved by the TVA board, is justified by growing infrastructure needs due to a population increase in the region. The increase will add about $4.35 to the average monthly bill, bringing it to around $142.35. Despite the hike, TVA rates remain competitive, now ranking fourth lowest among regional peers. The TVA is investing $16 billion in infrastructure by 2027.

4. Former President Donald Trump went to the border, while CNN’s Jake Tapper once again suggested Vice President Kamala Harris was never a “Border Czar.” Another psychopath was arrested for threatening to kill Trump at the border. Trump brought people harmed by Harris’ failure to achieve anything at the border and her soft-on-crime policies and challenged Harris to mention them at the Democratic National Convention, which he noted she would not.

3. Arizona voters and actual Americans get a big win as the U.S. Supreme Court delivered a partial victory to Republicans in Arizona seeking to enforce proof of citizenship requirements for voting in presidential elections, including mail-in ballots. The court’s 5-4 ruling allows some enforcement of the state’s law, HB 2492, which was previously blocked by a lower court. Justices Thomas, Alito, and Gorsuch supported full enforcement, while Justices Sotomayor, Kagan, Barrett, and Jackson opposed it.

2. Democrat candidate for congress in the newly racially gerrymandered AL-02, Shomari Figures, spoke at the Democratic National Convention. Figures spoke in favor of now-nominee Kamala Harris and promoted his own candidacy as part of a package of Democrat challengers. Figures highlighted the Civil Rights history of the district he aims to represent. “All of America all of us all of us owe a debt to courageous freedom fighters both known and unknown a debt that can never be repaid but what we can do is ensure that the work of those fighters who came before us continues and that our sacred right to vote is always protected,” he said. Because Alabama definitely needs a Democrat on the national stage complaining about how Democrats in Alabama behaved in the past.

1. Vice President Kamala Harris accepts the nomination to be the Democratic candidate for President in these United States, pulling off a bloodless coup, without firing a single shot, giving a single interview, or explaining how her new policies jive with a lifetime of radical liberal views. Harris is now running solely on media adoration and the necessity, X. America now faces a choice between Harris and former President Donald Trump, who continues to try to discuss issues and lay out his vision for America. Momentum and the Real Clear Politicians polling appears to be on Harris’ side right now. However, betting markets have moved back towards Trump.
