7. A surveillance video shows a person-of-interest in the attempted bombing at the Alabama Attorney General’s Office, the FBI is also seeking tips and has set up a reward for information. There is no known motive but the attempted bombing was the day after Attorney General Steve Marshall announced that he wouldn’t prosecute in vitro fertilization providers or families following a state Supreme Court ruling on frozen embryos.
6. Congressional candidate and Alabama State House Minority Leader Anthony Daniels (D-Huntsville) is right when he warns that Republicans may face a political backlash that could potentially lead to significant losses for the party at the polls if they fail to address the controversial issue of in vitro fertilization. In order to avoid what Daniels is suggesting, both chambers of the Alabama Legislature have bills focusing on the issue moving forward.
5. A judge has ruled to remove former President Donald Trump from the Illinois ballot, citing a dubious potential violation of a law prohibiting insurrectionists from holding office. Trump’s campaign plans to appeal the ruling the decision that argues Trump’s involvement in the Jan. 6 Capitol riot disqualifies him from appearing on the ballot..
4. Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) announced that he will be leaving the U.S. Senate in November and opening the door for new leadership in the Republican Party and in the Senate. Sen. Katie Britt (R-Montgomery), praised McConnell, referring to him as one of Alabama’s greatest native sons and highlighted McConnell’s efforts in advancing conservative policies.
3. The suggestion made by one of aldotcom’s biggest brains that New York City is far safer than the state of Alabama is laughable and easily destroyed by Alabama U.S. Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-Auburn). Kyle Whitmire used a homicide rate that ignores many factors and Tuberville roasted him saying, “These idiots will look you square in the eyes and argue that the city that locks up their shampoo at CVS and has Venezuelan gangs coordinating muggings in the streets … is safer than a red state that people are moving their families and businesses to. The mainstream media is the dry rot of this nation.”
2. University of Alabama students and faculty are almost guaranteeing the passage of a bill that seeks to limit the state’s use diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) programs on college campuses by parading around with transgender flags and chanting. The “Our Home Too Act” is sure to pass as the lawmakers have made it a point to rein in the bureaucrats and government entities who are belligerently operating outside the norms of the state.
1. A new gambling idea is apparently on the table after cold water has been thrown on hopes of the Alabama State Senate passing the House gambling bills after a hearing concluded with no vote on the matter in a hastily called meeting. Further deliberation is allegedly ongoing that focuses on lottery and protection of the current status quo of patchwork gambling laws and amendments for quasi-legal gambling entities but expanded casino and sports betting advocates won’t like that.
