7. CRT is getting banned, but that’s not the only change necessary in schools
- There are efforts in Alabama to prevent social engineering in schools. Both State Representative Danny Garrett (R-Trussville) and State Senator Tim Melson (R-Florence) have introduced bills that would change how textbooks are recommended for school systems, and it would also update the process to be more in line with the Alabama Literacy Act.
- Board of Education member Tracie West has endorsed this effort from Garrett and Melson. West stated, “I believe that the next step in improving education in Alabama is improving our state textbook law. Corrections must be made immediately in order to protect our students and Alabama classrooms.”
6. State Senator Roberts: Legislature needs to act to avoid additional taxation
- State Senator Dan Roberts (R-Mountain Brook) is advocating for more to be done by the legislature to avoid additional taxation to citizens due to the funds people received from the American Rescue Plan Act.
- Roberts explained that due to the current laws in Alabama, some of the additional funds citizens received could result in $87.7 million in additional state income taxes to be paid. Roberts said, “This is about getting roughly $2 billion that came to Alabama families between July and December into a position that we do not tax it as a state.”
5. FBI/Biden finally acknowledge obvious terrorist situation was terrorism
- A hostage situation took place at a synagogue near Dallas, Texas, over the weekend. The situation ended with all hostages being released, and British national Malik Faisal Akram, who orchestrated the terrorist act, was shot and killed. After the attack, the FBI suggested his motive was unknown and President Joe Biden rambled his way into a statement that made it sound like he had no clue what was going on. He declared, “I don’t think there is sufficient information to know why he targeted that synagogue why he insisted on the release of someone who’s been in prison for over 10 years… why he was using anti-Semitic & anti-Israeli comments.”
- Oddly enough, it was obvious all along because Akram targeted a synagogue, held Jewish hostages and demanded the release of Aafia Siddiqui, a terrorist with ties to al-Qaeda. The FBI and Biden came around, leading the media to clean up their mess, including this story at al.com that acts as if Biden and the FBI were clear all along.
4. Some hospitals are ending race-based coronavirus treatment priority
- Across the country, many hospitals announced that as coronavirus treatments were in short supply, those at higher risk would be prioritized in receiving treatments, but those who were non-white would also be considered in the higher risk category. After severe backlash, some hospitals have reversed the decision to prioritize treatments based on race.
- One of these hospital systems is SSM Health, which includes 23 hospitals in the Midwest. SSM Health reversed its decision after being threatened with legal action because the practice was said to be illegal and unethical. While SSM Health announced that its policy had changed, hospital leadership justified its previous position by saying, “COVID-19 has had a disproportionate impact on low-income communities and certain racial/ethnic minorities in the United States.”
3. Ainsworth: Ivey is going to win reelection
- Lieutenant Governor Will Ainsworth has displayed great confidence for Governor Kay Ivey’s reelection chances as she faces several opponents, including businessman Tim James and former U.S. Ambassador to Slovenia Lindy Blanchard.
- During Alabama Public Television’s “Capitol Journal,” Ainsworth said that Ivey has “done a good job.” He added, “I think she’ll be reelected in a landslide in Alabama because the economy is doing well, people are moving to our state. Our education system is improving in certain areas, and she has laid out a good vision for how to continue to do that.”
2. There is no reason for Martin Luther King, Jr. and Robert E. Lee to share a holiday
- Although this is a yearly issue, Alabama Democratic Party chairman and State Representative Chris England (D-Tuscaloosa) has restated his desire to see the Martin Luther King, Jr. Day holiday and Alabama’s Robert E. Lee day uncoupled from each other. This year, he made that clear by praising a tweet by the Alabama Republican Party and adding a request that they join him in his cause.
- The ALGOP tweeted about honoring King’s “leadership and sacrifice to make our nation a better place for all” and England responded by pushing his bill about the holidays. He replied, “Great tweet. Completely agree. But, I have an idea. Let’s really go all out to honor him by giving him his own day in Alabama. Join me in supporting HB60 which will give him the honor he deserves-his own day, rather than one shared with Robert E. Lee.”
1. Democrats and Biden transparently attempt to make MLK Day about them
- President Joe Biden, the media and their Democrats used the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday to push their political agenda on “voting rights” in a way that would sway absolutely no one. This issue has been pushed heavily by Democrats already but continues to be stalled due to objections from a majority (52/100) of U.S. Senators. Biden said, “It’s time for every elected official in America to make it clear where they stand.”
- Biden, who famously declared George Floyd’s death was more impactful than King’s, also focused on “the sacred right to vote, a right from which all other rights flow.” Many other officials joined in similar speeches, including U.S. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen, who said of the U.S. economy, “From Reconstruction, to Jim Crow, to the present day, our economy has never worked fairly for Black Americans – or, really, for any American of color.” The media did their duty in shilling for Democrats and attacking anyone who dare disagree with them, as they are shameless.
