7 Things: Alabama could have a new immigration law; Biden admin lied again; and more …

7. UConn is looking past Alabama in the Crimson Tide’s first Final Four appearance. UConn may be able to be cocky, they have 10 consecutive tournament wins, consecutive Final Four appearances, and the university has taken preemptive measures by removing light poles from campus to prevent potential property damage and chaos, reminiscent of last year’s celebrations after they won it all.

6. Even after all the previous bad behavior by aldotcom, the smearing of 1819 News continues because they exposed (as journalists do) a pastor and mayor who was cross- dressing in secret, writing slasher fiction of business owners in the city, attempting to convince people to become trans, and using minors from the community in their memes about transitioning. Some unemployed former journalists are demanding politicians ignore 1819 News, while aldotcom can’t explain their previous coverage of Secretary of State John Merrill’s sex life or Kyle Whitmire’s gay panic over Roy Moore.

5. No one lives in the newly drawn, racial gerrymandered Second Congressional District, at least no one running as a Democrat. And it is becoming an issue as House Minority Leader Anthony Daniels (D-Huntsville) is addressing concerns about residency, highlighting that Shomari Figures, a frontrunner in the race, has been residing outside Alabama for over a decade, primarily in Washington, D.C. Figures has a $1.2 million home in Bethesda, Md., and Daniels claims that he only established residency in Alabama shortly before the filing deadline in November 2023. Meanwhile Daniels represents Huntsville in the Alabama State House, a couple hundred miles away from the district.

4. Democrats continue talking about how unconcerned they are about illegal immigration, and how the crime doesn’t matter because natural born citizens commit crimes too. Even liberal columnists are noting how insane this argument is, but only because they think Republicans will “seize” on the issue of illegal immigrants massacring citizens to rile up the “security mom” vote with stories that “will almost assuredly be rolled up into TV, print and digital ads and marketed to voters.”

3. A union boss is straight-up attacking Gov. Kay Ivey as she continues to push against unionization in the state’s auto industry. UAW president Shawn Fain said, “Alabama Governor Kay Ivey recently dared to say that the economic model of the South is under attack. She’s damn right it is! It’s under attack because workers are fed up with getting screwed.” The union’s efforts to unionize the automotive manufacturing industry in Alabama is looking for a big win at the Mercedes-Benz plant in Vance.

2. The Biden administration told another lie about energy policy after canceling the refilling of our Strategic Petroleum Reserve by purchasing 3 million barrels of oil for the (SPR), citing increasing prices cause by his policies. The SPR holds oil for emergency situations and currently has 363.6 million barrels of oil, a 43% decline from January 2021 when President Biden assumed office after he initiated a drawdown in late 2021 as part of efforts to address elevated fuel prices, which clearly did not work.

1. Alabama’s “Laken Riley Act,” an attempt at enforcing immigration law in the state, is running into absurd opposition, as usual, with opposition coming from legislators who want to slam cops, with Rep. TaShina Morris (D-Montgomery) suggesting law enforcement can’t be trusted, “We’re going to sit here and act like we don’t understand the history.” Other opponents suggested the illegals assaulted by other illegal immigrants will be unlikely to call the cops because of their legal status and the law would lead to racial profiling, but it is expected that the law will pass this session.
