7 Things: AI coming for ‘many jobs’; parental rights bill stalls; and more …

7. The illegal immigrant who murdered 5 in Texas has been caught in the state after fleeing on foot and shedding his phone and clothing. Francisco Oropeza was taken into custody and charged Tuesday evening after a manhunt and $80,000 reward was offered.

6. School choice momentum is everywhere but Alabama. In Oklahoma, real school choice just passed and was celebrated by the governor. Two new polls find school choice very popular even among Democrats with one finding heavy support in liberal Illinois and one finding support from black parents.

5. Alabama passed two election security bills – one bill requires that election means use paper ballots, and the other bill outlaws connecting voting machines to the Internet. Secretary of State Wes Allen (R) supports the bill that Sen. Clyde Chambliss (R-Prattville) says will prevent the hacking of Alabama’s elections. Democrats opposed the bills because of future possible “implications.”

4. U.S. Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-Auburn) keeps pounding away on any Air Force or military leader he can about why the fairly -decided move of the Space Command HQ to Redstone Arsenal in Alabama is being held up. When asked directly about the move, Secretary of the Air Force Frank Kendall said, “I don’t have anything new to report today, Senator Tuberville.”

3. A ban on allowing minors at drag shows is an absolute “no-brainer” according to the bill’s sponsor. House Majority Leader Scott Stadthagen (R-Hartselle) responded to absurd claims of 1st Amendment issues by accurately pointing out that it is legal to limit the types of establishments and entertainment minors may consume, “you’ve got bars where they sell alcohol and minors aren’t allowed to be there.”

2. Alabama House Republicans can’t get a “parental rights” bill passed because Democrats pretend they don’t know what it means and they are listening to people that have created two transgender children in the same family. The bill would stand between the parents of children and government actors who know who is best. They could not get this done.

1. According to the CEO of IBM, Arvind Krishna, artificial intelligence is about to eliminate a lot of white-collar clerical jobs within 5 years. But, in an attempt to soften the blow, another CEO says that this will allow you to “re-skill your workforce, not to just cut your workforce” in order to take advantage of new opportunities.
