U.S. Rep. Dale Strong (R-Monrovia) toured Huntsville Hospital’s Madison Street Tower expansion, a $150 million, five-story addition by Birmingham-based Robins & Morton that will take the hospital from 881 beds to 931 in 2027.

“Enjoyed touring the job site at Huntsville Hospital’s Madison Street Tower,” Strong wrote on Facebook.

“This project will add 120 beds and house a cardiothoracic intensive care unit, neuro intensive care unit, and three floors of acute medical space. I applaud the hospital for having the vision to undertake this timely expansion that will provide critical medical services to our entire region.”

“It was great visiting with the construction team at Robins & Morton and seeing their commitment to making this tower an outstanding facility for patients and their families,” Strong wrote.

Robins & Morton built the original tower in 2006 and topped out the expansion Nov. 19, 2025.

Associated Builders and Contractors of Alabama, the trade association for the state’s merit-shop contractors, posted about the tour on LinkedIn Thursday and quoted Robins & Morton division manager Mitch Coley.

“We welcomed the opportunity to support a better understanding of the construction industry,” Coley said. “Construction accounts for more than $20 billion in economic impact on the State of Alabama annually, and it’s important to us to demonstrate the critical nature of our work to our elected officials.”

Huntsville Hospital Health System President and CEO Jeff Samz said at the March 2025 announcement that the expansion gives the hospital room to meet the “advanced health care needs of North Alabama and southern Tennessee for decades to come.”
