BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — Alabama native and child actor, Hudson Meek, age 7, is set to co-star in the next American Christian drama 90 Minutes in Heaven, written and directed by Michael Polish.

The film is based on the New York Times best selling autobiography of Don Piper by the same name, a pastor who experiences Heaven after being pronounced dead following a head-on collision with a tractor trailer.

“Pastor Don Piper died January 18, 1989 when a semi-tractor truck crushed his car,” the film’s promotional synopsis says. “Declared dead by the first rescue workers to arrive on the scene, Don’s body lay under a tarp for the next 90 minutes. Don’s soul, meanwhile, was experiencing love, joy, and life like he’d never known before. Don was in Heaven.”

In the film Meek will play the son of Don Piper (Hayden Christiansen) and Eva Piper (Kate Bosworth).

90 Minutes in Heaven was created by Giving Films, a non-profit film company that distributes all proceeds to charities in the United States and around the world. This will mark the company’s first ever feature film release, and is set to premiere in theaters September 11.

Hudson is the son of Derek and Lani Meek, and the younger brother of actor, Tucker Meek who has performed in LifeTime’s The Santa Con & Robert Redford’s soon to be released A Walk in the Woods.
