We’ve heard of incredible streaks before. From winning streaks, to hitting streaks, to scoring streaks, they are synonymous with sports glory.
But fandom streaks are a whole new level of level of dedication for the sport fan who lives and dies with every result for their team.
During football season, Alabama Crimson Tide fan Tommy Ray attended his 654th consecutive Tide game both home and road, which was incredible.
But Montgomery Biscuits diehard fan Richard Chamberlain has Ray beat, and the margin to which is not small.
Chamberlain has attended 1,224 consecutive Biscuits home games, missing only two ever in 20 years in Montgomery in 2005 when he was in the hospital.
Even from the hospital, Chamberlain would get out in time to catch the end of that week’s series.
“I get down here and I feel like I’m where I’m supposed to be at home,” Chamberlain told television station WSFA. “Coming here every night is something different, you never know if you’ll see a no-hitter or a triple play or a cycle. Plus, I’ve met a lot of people here, I’ve met a lot of close, dear friends here and you meet someone new every night.”
“I work here and I don’t make every game in a year,” said Biscuits General Manager Mike Murphy. “I don’t think I’ve made every game in a single season in minor league baseball and he’s been to all but two. It’s really amazing and its awesome to see someone that has that kind of passion for the biscuits and for baseball as well.”
Chamberlain got the chance to throw out the first pitch at this year’s home opener where the team commemorated its 20 season in Montgomery.
