Yet another auto supplier announces new Alabama expansion

YH Auto manufacturingWashington may be gridlocked, but its not slowing the flow of new jobs coming into Alabama.

On Wednesday, automotive supplier DENSO announced it will build a shipping plant warehouse in Montgomery. This will be the company’s first facility in the state, and it will create 45 new jobs and a $2.2 million investment.

DENSO, a Japan-based corporation, supplies automakers with systems and components involving thermal, power train control, electronics and information and safety.

The Montgomery location will be the distribution nerve center for heating ventilation AC units and other parts for the company’s North American consumers.

“First, we’d like to thank our North American customers because when they grow and expand, it allows DENSO to grow and expand. It’s always been DENSO’s core operating philosophy to be close to the regions in which we operate,” said Hikaru “Howard” Sugi, president and CEO of DENSO International America. “We’re proud to extend our network and welcome Montgomery into the DENSO family.”

DENSO will open operations in April of 2014 at an already existing 103,000 square-foot warehouse on Smothers Road.

“We’re excited to welcome DENSO to Alabama and are honored they selected Montgomery as their home,” said Montgomery Area Chamber of Commerce Chairman of the Board Horace Horn Jr. “Once again, a global organization has chosen to invest in our community because our city, county, state and chamber leadership have partnered to make the River Region valued as an excellent place to do business.”

The Montgomery supplier is just one piece of DENSO’s puzzle. They also plan to invest almost a billion dollars to expand in North America to strengthen their product development and manufacturing capabilities across the region.

DENSO already employs more than 10,000 worker across in several states across the U.S.
