Will the Alabama Republican Party avert another electoral trainwreck?

Is the Alabama Republican Party willing to allow an ignorant, racist, anti-Semitic, liar to represent them in the fall?

According to word out of the ALGOP, maybe not. This shouldn’t even be an issue, but it is. Jim Bonner is NOT former Congressman Jo Bonner, nor is he related to him, but the similar name has led to some confusion among the Alabama electorate and attention Jim Bonner probably didn’t want. A scroll through the man’s Facebook feed will lead you to multiple things that are mentioned and linked above, but they also show a man willing to lie about anything.

His entire campaign appears to be based on making people mad:

Just a reminder: Just because a guy makes the right people mad, it doesn’t make them a good guy.

Why this matters: Jim Bonner is financially a wreck, been too sick/disabled to work, but not so much so that he can’t muster up enough strength to be a serial candidate running for office. The guy has been drawing disability from the federal government, but now he’s healthy enough to draw a tax payer funded salary.

He claims to be a straight talker but when confronted by my show, he’s refused to own up to much of anything. He claims the many sexist, racist and demeaning things he has posted online have all been taken out of context (they have not). All questions about his public social media posts, as well as his questionable finances, and legal issues are met with excuses and blatant lies.

To make matters worse, he is not beyond smearing others with provably false and defamatory attacks.

I challenged him to prove his allegation that I have tax liens or apologize, he refused. Jim Bonner is NOT a good man.

Alabama Republican Party, you should be better than this. You can do better than this. You kicked former Democrat State Senator Tom Butler off the ballot in 2012 when he tried to run for Limestone County Commission. He is now running for his old State Senate seat.

We all understand the idea that we should let the voters decide, and generally I would agree, but you are setting up the state and every Republican candidate for Roy Moore 2.0.

Pull the trigger NOW, do not wait until you absolutely have to.
