U.S. Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-Auburn) is calling on conservatives to honor the legacy of Charlie Kirk by continuing the work he did on college campuses.

Kirk, who founded Turning Point USA and became well known for holding political debates on college campuses, was killed by an assassin’s bullet during an outdoor event Wednesday on Utah Valley University’s campus.

Tuberville, who is also a candidate for governor in 2026, said “Just the News, No Noise” TV show that “it’s going to be tougher and tougher for us to get our voice out.”

Police arrested the suspect in the assassination of Charlie Kirk Thursday night. He’s been identified as Tyler Robinson, a 22-year-old Utah resident.

“But who do we need to reach the most?” Tuberville asked. “It’s the kids on these college campuses because they are being brainwashed, they’re being taught different things, and Charlie was just another voice.”

The senator said the Kirk would want students to continue having these conversations on campuses like he did.

“At the end of the day, what would Charlie want?” he asked. “Somebody’s got to take the bull by the horn and continue this dialogue, because we cannot be shut out from college campuses.”

Tuberville worried that these kinds of events would not continue.

“If that happens, we lose,” he said. “We can’t lose these young 18-to-23-year-olds to an ideology that does not fit Christianity or our Constitution.”
