Alabama quarterback Jalen Milroe put on a show for spectators at one of the most prestigious summer events in the country last week.
Milroe, who spent June 27-30 as a counselor at the Manning Passing Academy (MPA) in Thibodaux, Louisiana, participated in the camp’s Friday Night Lights showcase, a competition between elite quarterbacks. According to the MPA, Friday Night Lights is the week’s premier event and features commentary from Archie, Peyton, and Eli Manning.
The highlight of Milroe’s night came during the QB Challenge. Showcasing his trademark mobility, Milroe rolled out of the pocket and accelerated to his right, throwing a dart to the sideline that hit the center of the target.

The highlight comes at a time when anticipation is building for Milroe’s redshirt junior season. Sportsbooks currently rank Milroe as the fourth-most likely player to win next season’s Heisman, trailing only fellow quarterbacks Carson Beck, Dillon Gabriel, and Quinn Ewers.
New Alabama coach Kalen DeBoer recently compared Milroe to former Washington quarterback Michael Penix, a runner-up finisher in the Heisman voting who was selected with the 8th overall pick in this year’s NFL Draft.

“They’re the ones that are holding themselves accountable and then passing that on to the rest of their team,” DeBoer said. “Super talented obviously in their own way, been just cool seeing Jalen bit by bit, he’s watching clips still from last year, we’ve installed things offensively in particular. He’s just really embraced that and been excited about it and take on just like Michael did, everything we throw at them because they want to grow and be their best.”
“There’s the talent piece, but I think even more importantly, who they are as people, what their values are and just that they want what’s best for this program, best for this team and they’re great leaders that way.”
Along with his on-field performance, Milroe honed his leadership skills at the Manning Passing Academy, receiving advice from legendary former NFL coach Bill Belichick.
