Broadcasting legend Eli Gold can’t wait to get back into the booth. He’s kept our attention for more than 35 years as the voice of the Crimson Tide.
Last Friday, we heard a sound just as sweet as “Touchdown, Alabama!” – Eli rang the bell to signify the completion of his cancer treatment.

In an interview with Mobile’s WNSP, Gold revealed details about his course of treatment – as well as his optimism for a September return.
“I was very sick. It turns out that I have gotten better, but there is still work to be done,” Gold said. “I’m not looking at A-Day, but lord willing and the creek doesn’t rise, I am planning to be back for the start of the regular season.”
The tradition of ringing a bell at the end of cancer treatment has become a symbol of hope and celebration for many cancer patients.
