Walker’s donor base shifts

YH Scott Walker

The Cap Times in Madison produces a handy interactive map showing how Gov. Scott Walker’s donor base has shifted since he limited collective bargaining rights.

The key stat: Before February 2011, 91 percent of Walker’s donations came from within Wisconsin; since then, that number has dropped to 38 percent.

The map provides state by state stats and even allows you to drill down by zip code.

It’s a visual illustration of how that act, followed by the ensuing recall attempt, transformed Walker into a national player.

Editor’s note: According to the map, Walker has received just over $14,000 from Alabama. The map below shows the areas of the state from which Walker’s donations have come. Walker will be the keynote speaker at the Alabama Republican Party’s annual summer dinner on Aug. 23 in Montgomery.
