(Video) ‘I’m a working man!’ — Alabamian’s must-hear message on how to stay out of prison

DeAndre Dunn of Tuscaloosa, Ala., holds a lot of different titles at his current job at Hudson Auto Body — motor man, rotors and brakes man, even upholstery man. But one title he’s committed to never holding again is “inmate,” and he’s developed a simple formula for himself and others to make sure that title doesn’t show up on their résumés ever again.

“I ain’t scared to get my hands dirty,” he says in the must-watch video above. “My job title might change every hour. Earlier I was a motor man. Now I’m a rotors and brakes man. Later on this evening I might be the upholstery man. But I ain’t scared to get my hands dirty. That’s the only way you’re going to stay out of prison. I ain’t got no title. I’m a man — a working man.”

Dunn said there’s nothing wrong with getting dressed up to go out and have some fun, but during the day he’s focused on doing his job to the best of his ability.

“If I put some clothes on and I’m fixin’ to go somewhere, I can be a pretty boy,” he sad. “But right now I’ve got to get it. It don’t matter if I’ve got to get my hands dirty. As long as it’s legal and I can make a profit off of it, I’m ’bout that. So that’s one of the ways I stay out of prison. I’m not afraid to work.”

Dunn also explained that not knowing how to do something isn’t an excuse anymore, thanks to technology.

“If I don’t know how to do it, guess what? You’ve got it made today ’cause they’ve got Google. You better start Googling some stuff, ’cause one title I don’t ever want again is 169936 — that’s that prison ID number. I let them have that.”
