A new filing in Alabama indicates UPS is planning layoffs at its Montgomery operation early next year.
That filing with the Alabama Department of Workforce shows a Montgomery UPS layoff affecting 128 employees, with an initial report date of December 23, 2025, and a planned start date of February 23, 2026.
The cuts in Montgomery come as UPS’ broader strategy takes effect nationwide.
In late October, UPS disclosed that it has eliminated about 48,000 positions in 2025, including roughly 34,000 operational roles and about 14,000 management positions.
The company reported it had closed daily operations at 93 buildings in the first nine months of the year as it streamlined its network.
Earlier in 2025, UPS also announced plans to cut about 20,000 jobs and close more than 70 facilities as it reduces the volume of shipments handled for Amazon and reconfigures its U.S. network.
For those impacted, the Alabama Department of Workforce’s rapid response team provides on-site assistance to workers when plants announce layoffs.
When plants close or substantial layoffs are implemented, the team is available on-site with employers and employees affected by job losses.
