3 DAYS REMAINING IN THE 2024 ALABAMA LEGISLATIVE SESSION

U.S. Rep. Mike Rogers applauds signing of FY2022 National Defense Authorization Act

President Joe Biden on Monday signed into law the fiscal year 2022 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), providing final approval of next year’s military funding priorities.

The must-pass annual defense appropriations package, which includes several major funding victories for the state of Alabama, passed Congress earlier this month after a lengthy partisan legislative battle over funding provisions.

U.S. Rep. Mike Rogers (R-Saks), who serves as the lead Republican on the House Armed Services Committee, hailed the NDAA’s official signing and proclaimed that it would serve to strengthen national security.

“I am glad to see that the FY22 NDAA has been signed into law. This piece of legislation was the culmination of months of bipartisan work to bolster our national security and support our troops,” stated Rogers. “This year’s NDAA provides our military with a crucial funding increase to ensure that our warfighters have the tools they need to combat the threats our nation faces.”

While lauding the bill’s official legal enshrinement, Rogers advised that Congress in fiscal year 2023’s NDAA would continue to work toward addressing the threats posed by the United States’ top foreign adversaries.

The congressman concluded, “Our work is not finished. As we approach the new year, our nation faces unprecedented aggression and threats from near-peer adversaries, namely China and Russia. Combating these threats will continue to be our number one priority as we look ahead to FY23.”
