4 DAYS REMAINING IN THE 2024 ALABAMA LEGISLATIVE SESSION

U.S. Rep. Carl cosponsors resolution calling for Biden’s immediate resignation, says president’s ‘failures’ resulted in American bloodshed

U.S. Rep. Jerry Carl (R-Mobile), one of Alabama’s congressional delegation’s chief critics of President Joe Biden, on Tuesday joined his colleagues in demanding the president step down.

The South Alabama congressman joined House Republicans in cosponsoring a resolution calling for the president to resign his duties as commander-in-chief.

“President Biden’s leadership failures have directly resulted in 13 U.S. servicemembers being killed at the hands of brutal terrorists, Americans being stranded abroad, our nation’s reputation being humiliated on the world stage, and the Taliban seizing billions of dollars of U.S. military equipment,” said Carl. “A majority of Americans no longer have confidence in the President’s ability to lead our nation and serve as our Commander in Chief. President Biden must resign immediately.”

The resolution, which was introduced by Rep. Clay Higgins (R-LA) early Tuesday morning, claims the Biden administration “allowed billions of taxpayer dollars in military equipment to fall into the hands of the Taliban, including small arms, body armor, land vehicles, helicopters, and drones.”

It further states, “[T]he [a]dministration has jeopardized the safety of United States citizens and Afghan allies stranded in Afghanistan by willingly sharing their identities with Taliban officials.”

The Republican-led resolution concludes in part saying the president’s actions “constitute a severe dereliction of duty and a failure to fulfill the oaths of office taken by President Biden; and [t]hese failures have created a permanent rupture of trust between this military chain of command and the American people and our allies.”
