Tuberville on Taliban killing ISIS leader: ‘I’ll believe it when I see it’

The Taliban recently said it killed the ISIS-K leader who was responsible for planning the suicide bombing that killed 13 U.S. service members last August.

The attack was at Hamid Karzai International Airport (Kabul International Airport) in Afghanistan during the American withdrawal from that country. Along with the 13 U.S. service members , more than 170 Afghanis were killed in the incident.

However, some in Washington met the news with skepticism or outright disbelief the Taliban had killed the ISIS-K chief.

U.S. Sen. Tommy Tuberville is among that group.

“Who knows exactly who was involved in that,” he said today during his weekly call with reporters. “There was more than one person involved. It’s taken what, a year and a half for this to happen? They can say what they want. Of course the Biden administration would believe anything.

“Hopefully, we get some intelligence on this from the CIA or somebody that knows something about this. I’ll believe it when I see it to be honest with you.”

He also said the national media is unreliable for real information.

“I don’t believe anything coming from our media,” Tuberville (R-Auburn) said. “As we speak, all you have to do is look at what’s going on with our media in the last year and a half.

“It is awful, in terms of national media that gives us any kind of intelligence.”

Tuberville said the Biden administration cannot be trusted for intelligence after he recently examined leaked documents pertaining to the war in Ukraine and other closely guarded subjects.

“Look at all these records that were pushed out, the intelligence, by this 21-year-old serviceman,” he said. “They’ve lied to us about Ukraine. They’ve lied to us about a lot of different things.

“This administration has just absolutely been a joke when it comes to foreign policy. So, hopefully we get some correct intelligence on this and get some confirmation but I don’t believe any of those reports.”
