One year ago, President Donald J. Trump returned to the White House with a clear mandate – put America first again. Twelve months later, the results are not just talking points and campaign promises. They are showing up in paychecks, power bills, grocery aisles, and at job sites across Alabama.
Here at home, lower costs mean real relief for working families. Inflation has fallen by 70% from its Biden-era peak.
Gas prices are at their lowest since 2021, down nearly 30 cents since last year. Rent has declined for five straight months.
Even everyday staples, like eggs, have dropped in price by 31.3%. Wages are moving in the right direction too. Private-sector earnings are beating inflation, and goods-producing workers – the men and women who build, mine, manufacture, and log – are seeing real gains.
That’s good news for construction crews in the Wiregrass, manufacturers in the Tennessee Valley, shipbuilders on the Gulf of America, and the loggers and miners across the state who power Alabama’s economy.
For Alabama seniors living on fixed incomes, the new $6,000 tax deduction through the Working Families Tax Cuts is a meaningful step toward affordability and dignity after a lifetime of work.
The Trump Administration has also reignited American energy – an issue Alabamians understand well.
Record oil and gas production, expanded leasing, and decisive action to keep reliable power plants online are strengthening our grid and lowering costs in the state. Energy dominance isn’t a slogan, it’s a shield against foreign dependence and a catalyst for jobs and growth.
On trade and small business, the focus is back to what is best for Americans after four years of Joe Biden and Democrats’ red tape extravaganza. Barriers that kept American products out of global markets are coming down.
At the same time, the Small Business Administration is moving capital faster and delivering disaster assistance more efficiently — a critical lifeline for rural communities and family- owned businesses across our state.
Under President Trump, the border is finally secure, with eight consecutive months of zero illegal aliens released into the United States.
Encounters are down 95% compared to the Biden Administration, nearly 2.6 million criminal illegals have left the country, and 132,720 of the unaccompanied minor children lost under Joe Biden have been found.
President Trump has also taken on the Washington bureaucracy. The federal government is more accountable, and more transparent than it was a year ago.
His Administration’s deregulatory actions have amounted to $211.8 billion in net cost savings. Wasteful contracts have been cut, burdensome regulations rolled back, and taxpayer dollars protected from fraud.
One year in and President Trump is delivering for the American people. Promises made, promises kept.
I look forward to continuing to work with President Trump and his Administration to usher in the Golden Age of America and ensure Alabama families continue to benefit.
