Tuberville vows FBI probe into ICE raid leaks, says media ‘needs to be held accountable’

As raids targeting illegal immigrants continue across the country, a growing problem for law enforcement is beginning to take shape. While many of the operations targeting illegals for deportation have been a success others have failed after their details were reportedly leaked to the public.

In one such case, agents with Immigration, Customs, and Enforcement launched a major operation in the area of Aurora, Colorado attempting to apprehend members of the violent Venezuelan street gang, Tren de Aragua. When authorities arrived at several apartment complexes and buildings to make arrests they were found mostly empty with the gang members having already fled.

The botched raid has drawn the ire of border czar Tom Homan who has vowed to prosecute anyone found to have divulged sensitive information regarding an operation.

In a call with reporters Wednesday, U.S. Senator Tommy Tuberville said that he has been in contact with Homan about the issue and believes that certain news outlets have played a role in creating the problem.

“It’s a shame that our media across the country would rather protect criminals than cover the stories of law-abiding Americans who’ve been terrorized by all these illegal immigrants moving into their neighborhoods,” Tuberville (R-Auburn) said. “So I can condemn any efforts on leaking anything.”

He revealed that he will be speaking today with Holman about efforts to curtail the problem.

“Tom Homan was in my office. He’ll be there again today, We’re talking about some things about illegal immigration where we’re trying to help them. President Trump’s deportation efforts are very popular across party lines. This is not Democrat and Republican. This is American. We have to get control of our country again and control of our streets and our neighborhoods. Everyone has heard stories of innocent people like Laken Riley, who lost her life and was brutally beaten by an illegal.”

The Senator emphasized that the leaks will be heavily investigated and that the Federal Bureau of Investigations along with the Department of Justice will help punish those responsible.

“Any attempt to deter efforts to deport dangerous criminals should, should be put to an end immediately,” Tuberville said. “The media needs to be held accountable for this. You’re not being excused from any kind of arrest because I’m telling you, the FBI will be looking into this. It’s going to be very, very interesting how the next few days and weeks and months go in terms of all these leaks all over the country. It’s not just in a few places. All over the country illegals are receiving warnings that ICE is coming.”
