Tuberville blasts ‘Radical Democrats’ who ‘want to shut down our government and stop funding law enforcement’

U.S. Senator Tommy Tuberville (R-Auburn) has been blasting Democrats for driving the federal government toward a looming shutdown on October 1st.

The U.S. House already passed a Republican stopgap Continuing Resolution earlier this month that would fund the government through Nov. 21.

The Senate rejected the bill as some in the Democratic Party want to use a potential shutdown as leverage to force more of their spending priorities.

“Democrats will do WHATEVER IT TAKES to stall President Trump’s agenda,” Tuberville said on X Monday. “Make no mistake—if the government shuts down, it will be the DEMOCRATS’ FAULT.”

U.S. Rep. Robert Aderholt (R-Haleyville), who chairs the House Appropriations Committee, recently told Birmingham’s WXJC radio’s “Priority Talk” radio show that he thinks it’s likely the government will shut down.

“I think it’s about a 90% chance. Now, it may be for 24 hours, it might be for 24 days, I don’t know,” Aderholt said. “But, obviously, the thing about it is, we still have to have a military, but our soldiers won’t be able to be paid. And obviously, the essential government functions will have to continue. But a lot of those people will have to go to work, knowing that they will be paid at some point, but they will be on their regular pay period because the government will not be functioning.”

Tuberville, who is also a candidate for Alabama Governor in 2026, said a government shutdown would risk the safety of average Americans.

“Antifa terrorists are burning our cities, attacking ICE facilities, and murdering people at church,” he said. “Meanwhile, the Radical Democrats want to shut down our government and stop funding law enforcement. Make no mistake – this is an attempt to SHUT DOWN law and order in this country.”
