When it was announced No. 1 Michigan will play No. 4 Alabama in the Rose Bowl while Washington will face off against Texas in the Sugar Bowl, outrage for Florida State being cut out from the running, despite an undefeated season, exploded.
Most of the anger has been directed toward the College Football Playoff committee, who will never hear the end of the decision.
Former President Donald Trump was clear about who he blames for the Seminoles’ misfortune.
“Florida State was treated very badly by the ‘Committee,’” Trump wrote on Truth Social. “They become the first Power Five team to be left out of the College Football Playoffs. Really bad lobbying effort….Lets blame DeSanctimonious!!!”
On Sunday, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis said the playoff committee ignored the results.

The CFP committee judged FSU harshly for uncertainty in the QB slot.
“Florida State is a different team than it was the first 11 weeks,” CFP Selection Committee Chairman Boo Corrigan said to ESPN.
“As you look at who they are as a team right now, without Jordan Travis, without the offensive dynamic he brings, they are a different team and the committee voted Alabama four and Florida State five.”
DeSantis will take the stage Wednesday night in Tuscaloosa for the fourth GOP presidential debate. However, Trump will be a no-show at the debate hosted by Megyn Kelley and NewsNation.
It’s yet to be seen if DeSantis will reiterate his position on the committee’s choice deep in Crimson Tide territory.
