Todd Greer named executive director for Mobile’s Innovation Portal

Todd Greer has been named executive director of Innovation Portal, the Mobile-based nonprofit incubator and innovation hub, effective March 1.

Greer previously was vice president of Academic Affairs at the University of Mobile. During his tenure, he developed programs in the School of Business, helped launch the Doctor of Nurse Anesthesia Practice program, led a technology transformation and oversaw academic programs and support services as well as the finances of seven university schools or colleges.

Greer holds a doctorate in organizational leadership with a major in human resource development from Regent University.

“After serving as a member of the board of directors and watching the exciting growth in our entrepreneurial ecosystem, I am overjoyed to join the team at Innovation Portal as we, daily, work to support founders and small business owners here in south Alabama,” Greer said. “Joining with our partners, both public and private, we will continue to lay a strong foundation for the business future in our region.”

Greer has been a board member and instructor for organizations, including the Minority Business Accelerator, I-Corps, the Mobile Area Chamber of Commerce Young Entrepreneur Academy, the United Way of Southwest Alabama and Mobile United. He is on the boards of Innovation Portal, Real Advice Mentoring Program (RAMP), Springboard to Success Inc. and ForMidtown. He is an adviser to many local startups and nonprofits.

“Todd’s experience, coupled with his enthusiasm to help build an entrepreneurial community in Mobile, will be an asset to the Innovation Portal,” said Henry O’Connor, Innovation Portal board co-chair. “Our board looks forward to working with Todd as we grow entrepreneurial leaders and provide them the skills for future success.

“I have collaborated with Todd in the entrepreneurial space for several years and always admired his work, his enthusiasm and his character,” O’Connor added. “In addition to his background, experience, education and training, his relationships in both the education and business sectors will be enormously beneficial for the future of Innovation Portal and those we serve.”

Innovation Portal is a nonprofit incubator and innovation hub accelerating startup growth in the Gulf Coast region. The portal provides a growth-focused space and community for entrepreneurs, innovators and creatives to work and connect, as well as targeted programming to encourage successful launch, development and scaling of local ventures.
