Three people accused of running an Alabama pill mill have been indicted.

AL.com reports 85-year-old Dr. John Ladd Buckingham, 53-year-old Cindy Louise Hyche Dunn and 56-year-old Thomas Mason Dunn were indicted Wednesday. Cindy and Thomas are married.

Prosecutors say the defendants ran the Moody clinic for years.

The indictment says Cindy, Buckingham and other co-conspirators prescribed more than 13,500 methadone-based pills to one patient and more than 8,200 oxycodone-based pills to another patient.

It charges Cindy and Buckingham with maintaining a drug-involved premises and includes 16 counts that charges them with unlawfully dispensing a controlled substance, all with opioids.

It charges the trio with participating in a money-laundering conspiracy by opening bank accounts and conducting transactions with illegally obtained funds.
