All six Republican members of the Alabama congressional delegation joined their GOP House colleagues Wednesday in voting to approve a formal impeachment inquiry of President Biden.
Republican U.S. Reps. Robert Aderholt of Haleyville; Jerry Carl of Mobile; Barry Moore of Enterprise; Gary Palmer of Hoover; Mike Rogers of Saks; and Dale Strong of Monrovia voted for the inquiry. Democratic U.S. Rep. Terri Sewell of Birmingham voted against it.
The Republican-controlled House voted 221-212 along party lines to approve the probe, which is examining whether Biden improperly benefited from his 53-year-old son Hunter Biden’s foreign business dealings, hours after Hunter Biden refused a call to testify behind closed doors.
- Rep. Mike Rogers (R-Saks): “House Republicans have followed the facts and are uncovering extensive evidence demonstrating highly questionable business dealings by Joe Biden and his family with foreign countries. The vote today establishes the formal process for this inquiry to go forward with adherence to established procedure with full transparency the American people expect. This vote by House Republicans stands in clear contrast to the illegitimate witch hunt by then-Speaker Nancy Pelosi against President Trump, said Rep. Rogers. “It has become increasingly clear that Joe Biden engaged in shady business deals and bribery. Clearly, the Bidens have a lot to hide, and House Republicans are going to turn over every stone to ensure Americans get the answers they deserve. This legislation will do just that.”
- Rep. Barry Moore (R-Enterprise): “Despite what the media and the Democrats will tell you, there is more than enough evidence against President Biden to justify an impeachment inquiry,” said Moore. “We already know that Biden lied about being involved in his family’s business dealings, using his vice president title as a brand, and taking money from Chinese state-linked companies. House Republicans are following the facts wherever they lead us, and we aren’t interested in playing politics — we want to protect our country. I look forward to working with Chairman Jordan on the Judiciary Committee to continue to examine the evidence.”

Rep. Robert Aderholt (R-Haleyville): “Today, I voted to open a formal impeachment inquiry into President Joe Biden. This resolution is a critically important step to ensure compliance with the law and full transparency of the process. To date, the Biden Administration has impeded the House’s investigation; therefore, the House has voted to reaffirm that the inquiry is authorized and can proceed to its conclusion. While a father should not be punished for the crimes of his son, it appears this President has possibly committed multiple impeachable offenses. At the top of that list is serving as a possible accomplice (the “Big Guy”) to the business dealings of his son, Hunter Biden. Just today, Hunter Biden refused to obey a Congressional subpoena. No one – not even the President’s family – gets to dictate how and which laws apply to them. Hunter Biden is going to learn that while it may be lucrative to trade off of his father’s name, it does not get him special treatment from the law.”
- Rep. Gary Palmer (R-Hoover): “Today’s vote by House Republicans is a step toward government transparency and accountability, specifically with the office of the President. During the entirety of Congress’ investigation into the Biden family, the White House has been obstructing our ability to get the information we need. The American people should wonder why that is the case. Unlike the impeachment of President Trump which was based on false charges and was a political hack job, we have built a case based on solid evidence. Approving an impeachment inquiry is the next step in this process which will provide access to additional documents and other evidence I believe will provide proof President Biden was involved in what can only be described a family criminal cartel. President Biden has continually lied about his involvement in this growing family enrichment scheme, and, with a formal impeachment inquiry, the House can now lay out the evidence for everyone to see. It is time the President and his family are held accountable.”
