Notorious stand-up comedian Katt Williams has officially purchased a portion of a former military post in Alabama with plans to transform it into a new movie studio.
There’s just one catch.
Williams, an Emmy Award winner, has yet to disclose which installation he purchased, although the only installation up for sale recently in the state was the decades-old barracks at Fort McClellan in Anniston. The asking price for the facility is listed as $1.5 million.
“I can’t disclose the amount or exact location just yet, but I can confirm that he has purchased a former military base in Alabama,” Williams’ publicist, Amy Sisoyev, said in a statement.
Williams revealed to Gentleman’s Quarterly that he got the idea for the studio from other entertainers like Donald Glover, 50 Cent, and Tyler Perry who have undertaken similar ventures.
“It’s just not fair to put all that pressure on Tyler Perry,” he told the news source. “He can only do so much.”
The barracks at Fort McClellan and its surrounding property are made up of 30 concrete buildings with three million square feet of indoor space. There are 10 barracks, two large gymnasiums, and 90+ acres of usable flat land.
