Former Bama golfer Brooke Pancake defies family name, inks deal with Waffle House

Former Alabama golfer and current LPGA pro Brooke Pancake has a name that could be a marketer’s dream, you know, if a clever corporate brand would just come around and sponsor her.

That’s exactly what happened on Tuesday, when Pancake announced she has officially aligned herself with a restaurant that doesn’t even serve them: Waffle House.

Pancake signed the endorsement deal, blaspheming her family name in the process by proclaiming, “To be quite honest, I prefer waffles over pancakes anyway.”

She will now play with the Waffle House logo on her golf bag, and visit various Waffle House establishments throughout the country on the pro tour.

“This will be the first time that the Waffle Nation will be cheering for a Pancake,” Waffle House president and CEO Walt Ehmer said in a release.

Pancake was the first female golfer in Alabama history to win the SEC championship, and she led the team to its first overall national championship in 2012. She turned professional in 2012 following that title and we can only imagine how often she frequented Waffle House during her career at Alabama.

While she has only made the cut at one of the five LPGA majors so far, she can now get smothered and covered hash browns and waffles wherever she is, whenever she wants.

That’s a win, no matter what her scorecard says.
