Alabama running back Tyren Jones has been suspended indefinitely for violation of conduct.

UA Athletics announced the suspension at 4:40 p.m. Wednesday, and the third-string runner will apparently sit out Spring football for the foreseeable future.

“Tyren Jones has been suspended indefinitely for conduct not to the standard of the Alabama football program,” Alabama head coach Nick Saban said.

The reason for why the rusher has been suspended remains uncertain.

Jones missed time last season with a torn tendon in his finger, but this also isn’t the first time he has been suspended. Jones was “suspended for now” last season by Saban for an undisclosed reason but only missed the team’s second bye week.

Fourth on the team in rushing, Jones had 36 carries for 224 yards and two touchdowns in 2014, and was poised to be one of Alabama’s key rushers with only Derrick Henry and Kenyan Drake as the returning players at the position. If Jones does miss the Alabama A-Day spring football game, it will open up space for early enrollee rushers Bo Scarborough and Desherrius Flowers.

Five-star running back Damien Harris will also join the team in the offseason and will compete for time with the rest of Alabama’s stable of running backs even if Jones, for some reason, doesn’t rejoin the team.
