Southern Orthopaedic Surgeons plans new state-of-the-art center in Montgomery

Alabama-based Southern Orthopaedic Surgeons announced plans to establish a new, state-of-the-art orthopedic surgery center designed to elevate patient care and outcomes in the River Region.

On Friday, an announcement ceremony featured advanced medical technology and innovative features to better serve the residents of Central Alabama. Located in the peaceful Halcyon Summit, the orthopedic surgery center will be visible to I-85 Montgomery traffic.

Founded in 1996, Southern Orthopaedic Surgeons (SOS) has been a leader in orthopedic care in Central Alabama, with offices in Montgomery, Prattville, Wetumpka, and Tallassee. With over 27 years of service in Central Alabama, the new surgery center will represent a significant advancement in the ongoing mission to enrich patient care and enhance the patient experience.

The new Southern Orthopaedic Surgeons surgery center will feature six fully equipped operating rooms and two specialized procedure rooms, ensuring that SOS can efficiently accommodate a wide range of orthopedic surgical procedures. Among its state-of-the-art features, the center will include cutting-edge surgical robots for joint replacement procedures, enabling highly precise and minimally invasive surgeries, leading to quicker recovery times and improved outcomes for patients in an outpatient setting.

The new center will streamline surgical procedures and reduce patient wait times, aligning with SOS’s goal of enhancing overall healthcare delivery. By integrating the latest technologies and expanding their facilities, SOS is set to redefine and continue its leadership role in orthopedic care in the River Region.

As SOS moves forward with the State Health Plan’s approval process, the organization remains steadfast in its dedication to providing top-tier orthopedic care and improving the quality of life for patients across the River Region.

“With more than 35 years of practice, born and raised here in Montgomery, we deeply value the relationship with patients and know that this can enhance that even greater,” said Dr. Roland Hester.

“Having initiated during COVID outpatient partial and total joint replacement for patients, we recognize how important convenient and state-of-the-art facilities can benefit patients,” said Dr. Brock Howell.

“SOS is visible at sporting events all across Central Alabama. We see the professional, amateur, and weekend athletes—all who desire quick action or speedy recovery. This new surgery center helps us do that,” said Dr. Perry Hooper.
