SLE Rodeo returns to Montgomery with action-packed weekend

The Southeastern Livestock Exposition (SLE) Rodeo is saddling up for its 68th annual event from March 14-16 at the Garrett Coliseum in Montgomery. Known as one of the Southeast’s most celebrated PRCA-sanctioned rodeos, this year’s event promises top-tier performances, family-friendly activities, and a celebration of Western heritage.

The SLE Rodeo has ranked within the top ten percent of PRCA events nationwide and brings the best in bull riding, barrel racing, saddle bronc riding, and team roping to Central Alabama.

Dusty Myers, a five-time Top 5 NFR Barrelman and 2023 Top 5 Comedy Act of the Year is ready to bring his signature mix of energy and humor to Montgomery.

“For two hours, I just want everyone to enjoy feeling like a kid again,” Myers said, adding that his performances pay homage to the legacy of traditional rodeo clowns with big props and bigger personalities.

Jessica Blair Fowlkes, a two-time NFR Specialty Act Performer, will dazzle audiences with her liberty act and daring stunts that have captivated fans at the National Finals Rodeo, including standing on two horses while leaping through fire.

“It’s a moment in time where three become one as they dance together in the arena,” Fowlkes explained.

Families can enjoy a host of activities designed for children, including the ever-popular Mutton Bust’n and Calf Scramble competitions, Stick Horse Rodeos, and the Western Festival on Saturday morning. Young fans can meet rodeo clowns and cowboys and make memories that will last a lifetime.

Another event, the Alabama Select Horse Sale, is scheduled for March 7-8 at the Teague Arena. Sponsored by Trustmark, the sale offers a preview of horses before the auction begins at 11 a.m. on March 8, giving equine enthusiasts an opportunity to find their perfect match.

In addition to showcasing world-class talent, the SLE Rodeo aims to support youth in agriculture. Proceeds from the event fund scholarships, educational programs, and events that help develop the next generation of agricultural leaders.

Tickets are available now at SLERodeo.com, and special hotel rates for out-of-town guests are offered through the event’s hotel partners.

Sponsorship opportunities are still available, offering businesses a unique chance to connect with the community while supporting a great cause. Visit SLERodeo.com to learn more, or contact SLE Executive Director Sarah Hunter at [email protected].
