President Donald J. Trump addressed the nation on Wednesday at approximately 10:30 a.m. CT about the ongoing conflict with Iran, and afterwards Senator Richard Shelby (R-AL) tweeted his support for the president’s speech.
“I believe that President Trump was very presidential and showed leadership and purpose,” Alabama’s senior senator said.
“I support the President’s effort to negotiate with Iran from a position of strength and his vow to retaliate with military action if Americans or American assets are harmed,” Shelby continued.
He concluded, “We must be vigilant following Iran’s attack on US troops in Iraq. Our Armed Forces are the most powerful in the world, and I remain confident that the President will do what it takes to protect and defend our nation.”
President Trump: “As long as I am President of the United States, Iran will never be allowed to have a nuclear weapon.”
