U.S. Senator Katie Britt (R-Montgomery) hit back against a recent report that claimed she didn’t support using a talking filibuster to pass the SAVE America Act in Congress.
The Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) America Act would require ID and proof of citizenship to register to vote.
Saturday, Fox News Channel did a report claiming that Britt was among several senators who are “opposed or skeptical” of using the talking filibuster to get the voter ID legislation through the upper chamber.
Britt made sure to correct the record on X over the weekend.
“This is blatantly false,” Britt said. “I have been working with [U.S. Sen. Mike Lee] to find the votes and path forward to pass the SAVE America Act, which includes the talking filibuster.”
U.S. Sen. Mike Lee (R-Utah) confirmed that Britt was on board with his plan to get the SAVE America Act passed.
“I wholeheartedly confirm that [Katie Britt] has been one of the Senate’s strongest advocates for the SAVE America Act—and for using the talking filibuster to pass it,” Lee said. “Thank you for your tireless support, [Katie Britt].”
Fox News quickly made a correction to the story.
“We want to make a quick correction,” Fox News host Kayleigh McEnany said.
