President Trump is back in office, which means that Democrats are working overtime to manufacture lies to try to make Republicans look bad. Their latest hoax has to do with the expiration of the Affordable Care Act subsidies — or the UNAFFORDABLE Care Act, as I like to call it.

Republicans should have seen this coming from a mile away. When Democrats passed these COVID-era subsidies without a single Republican vote in 2021, they intentionally set them to expire in 2025. But now that Republicans are in charge, it’s suddenly our fault that the clock is running out on these subsidies.

Democrats are hoping for a fourth-quarter Hail Mary to get this thing across the goal line. Unfortunately for them, a Hail Mary isn’t going to work here. We need a well-thought-out game plan that will actually deliver for the American people, not just a last-ditch effort to beat the game clock.

For months, our Democratic colleagues have been fearmongering about our health care system — blaming everyone but themselves for the mess they have made. The truth is, Obamacare destroyed our health care system. When Democrats passed Obamacare in 2010, they promised it would make healthcare “affordable.” Sure, the idea of Obamacare sounded great. Who doesn’t love free health care? But those of us who live in reality and understand basic economics knew this was never going to work, which is why not a single Republican voted for it in the Senate or the House.

You can’t pump billions of dollars into health care and not expect rampant fraud to take place. Nevertheless, woke Democrats rammed it through Congress, and it was signed into law— leading to the biggest overhaul of our health care system since Medicare and Medicaid in 1965.

Unfortunately, 15 years later, it turns out we were sold a bill of goods. The only winners of Obamacare are the big insurance companies who are getting filthy rich on the taxpayers’ money. Meanwhile, Americans are spending thousands of dollars on premiums for coverage that often doesn’t cover their actual needs. Not to mention the fact that Alabamians often leave the doctor’s office without have a clue how much money they owe.

Two of the biggest losers in this whole system: rural hospitals and small business owners. Rural hospitals across the nation, and in Alabama, are being forced to close their doors because of this broken system. Entrepreneurs are facing astronomical health care prices just because they have chosen to be their own boss. It’s completely twisted — we should be empowering those who go out on their own to create small businesses. Instead, Obamacare is punishing them.

Democrats always knew we’d end up here—and they didn’t care because socialized medicine has always been their end game. Obamacare promised lower costs and better care, but 15 years in, it has delivered the opposite. Obamacare premiums have nearly doubled since 2014, and the quality of care has gone down. Hospitals all over the country have been forced to close, and we’re losing doctors and nurses left and right because these jobs don’t pay what they used to. Because we don’t have transparency in the system, bad actors are able to hide prices, insurers face no real competition, and COVID subsidies allowed scammers to get rich off of fraudulent money that was intended for the most vulnerable.

So, despite the woke media’s efforts to paint this as Republicans’ fault—it’s actually just the opposite. Not a single Republican voted for this disaster. Democrats voted for it then, and Democrats are the ones who own this disaster today. They don’t get to throw a fit over a problem of their own making.
